Ad Specifications
The Foothills Spotlight publication uses a totally electronic, computer driven production process. Advertisement materials may be submitted electronically through a variety of methods including e-mail, FTP and on-line storage retrieval.
Transfer: Files may be submitted in a number of file formats including: EPS (encapsulated PostScript), TIFF (Tagged Image File Format), PDF (Portable Document File), and JPG (Joint Photographers Expert Group). Other formats may be acceptable but must be approved prior to submission.
File Format: Files should be of a high enough resolution for quality magazine production, generally between 266 and 300 dots per inch (DPI).
Type: All type must be converted to outlines unless prior exceptions have been arranged. PDF files must have the fonts embedded or a fee may be charged. If files are submitted with native fonts rather than outlines, a fee may be charged and client approval must be obtained.
Color: Files should be submitted in standard print-publishing color format, CMYK. If a file is submitted in another color space, a fee may be charged to convert to CMYK and client approval must be received. (Conversion from RGB to CMYK often causes some color shift.)
Unless prior approval is confirmed, spot colors must be converted to CMYK equivalents.
Trim and Bleed: Files must conform to size specifications or a resizing fee and client approval will be incurred. Live area is 1/4 inch inside the final publication trim size. Bleeds must exceed the trim size by at least 1/8 inch. Crop and bleed marks must be included to show proper position.
